Webinar “Personal Stories of Holocaust Remembrance”

insidethegatesOn 19th November 2021, the webinar “Personal Stories of Holocaust Remembrance” was held within the framework of the project “Youth Reflects on the Holocaust and World War II”. 

This project is implemented by the Space for Tolerance Educational Center in cooperation with the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies.

The seminary was designed for educators who teach subjects of the social and humanitarian field, coaches on human rights as well as civic education. All participants recieve an electronic certificate according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Content: As soon as nazi invaders were driven out of the Ukrainian territory, the first attempts to commemorate the Holocaust began. Subsequently, at the state level, this memory was manipulated, distorted and harassed. So did ist carriers. However, at the level of specific individuals, families, villages and towns, often contrary to unofficial prohibitions, they remembered their Jewish neighbors. And they found opportunities to express this memory in specific actions and signs. With  the gain of independence, the situation reached a new dimension, but the picture of memory still depended and depends on single people and their stories.

The webinar looked at examples that differ from the general context and show how important personal stories and actions of each individual are.
