TURN OF HISTORY. THE PATH TO JUSTICE FOR WAR VICTIMS IN UKRAINE

insidethegatesThe conference is devoted to expert discussions on various aspects of transitional justice, including documentation and investigation of gross violations of human rights, establishment of historical truth, memorialisation and reparations.  The event will be held within the framework of the USAID Human Rights in Action Program, implemented by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union

The conference will present the results of a sociological study on the needs assessment of victims of the war in Ukraine, commissioned by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union. The text of the study will be sent to you in advance. 

The conference will provide a space for lawyers, donors, human rights defenders, diplomats, representatives of state institutions and international organisations to share knowledge and experience and further discuss possible approaches to ensure justice for victims of war in Ukraine.

This is the story of how some people (including educated and seemingly mentally healthy people) killed other people on a scale and systematic basis that had never been seen before. The "banality of evil" was that the virtue of loyalty turned bureaucrats into committed genocide performers.
