From the 5th to 26th July 2021 this year’s summer seminar-school “Holocaust history in Ukraine: studying, teaching, remembrance” took place

insidethegatesOn the 26th of July this year’s summer seminar-school “Holocaust history in Ukraine: studying, teaching, remembrance”, which has been supported by the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAAD) and the Yad Vashem Memorial (Jerusalem), ended.

This year’s seminar evolved around the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy. Participators were given the chance to discuss questions about the memorialization of the historical place, such as local issues raised when it comes to remembrance of Holocaust victims  (After all, the 80th anniversary of the tragedies is marked almost throughout Ukraine).

Most of this years online-lessons have been integrated, combining different aspects of Holocaust education and the obligatory pedagogical elements, which gave the our participants more opportunities to apply the acquired knowledge and skills.

All events have been held in friendly atmosphere and high professionalism, and although this has been the second year of our summer school taking place in online-format, we managed to follow our educational curriculum and maintained the high standard of performance.

The UCHS thanks all trainers, lectors and participants!
