Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies announces the educational seminar-school in Holocaust studies and teaching about the Holocaust

Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (UCHS) in cooperation with Memorial "Yad Vashem" (Jerusalem) and under the support of the Eurasian Jewish Congress and the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine announce the call for participation in the educational summer school on Holocaust History in Ukraine and problems of teaching this subject in Ukrainian schools. The summer school is held for teachers of history and civics of Ukrainian secondary schools. Colleagues and teachers from Belarus and Moldova are welcome to participate as well.
The summer school, which will include lectures, discussions, workshops, and excursions, will address various aspects of the Holocaust in Ukraine and Europe, namely the policy of totalitarian regimes, the Nazi genocide against Jews, resistance movement, Ukrainian-Jewish relations in the interwar period and during the Holocaust, antisemitism of the Nazi ideology, interdisciplinary approaches to Holocaust History, other genocides of World War II and in the present. Part of the discussion will also be devoted to teaching methods about Holocaust in schools.

The workshop will take place on 25 - 30 June 2017 in Mykolayiv.

  • (No) Children’s Stories Exhibition returned to Chernivtsi

    In May-June 2024, Chernivtsi once again invited the interactive exhibition (No) Children’s Stories. This time, it was hosted by Chernivtsi Gymnasium No. 17, and initiated by history and law teacher Varvara Bodnariuk. The students of 7-9 grades volunteered to host the exhibition and during the month of the event, they gave tours to more than 400 people, including students from their school, other schools in the city, and even the mayor of Chernivtsi and a foreign delegation from Dusseldorf (Germany) with the mayor of the city.

    On 18-19 May, the seminar Learning from the Past - Acting for the Future was held in Kyiv. It was a joint event of The Olga Lengyel Institute, New York, and the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, funded by the Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights.
