Cultural heritage of Zaporizhzhia Oblast communities in the context of war: preservation and evacuation. Ukrainian Hour Berlin

insidethegatesThis online meeting will focus on cultural values and museum collections in the context of russian aggression and war against Ukraine on the example of Zaporizhzhia region

The speaker will be Serhii Zvilinskyi, a historian, head of the NGO Huliaypilski Starozhynosti, community facilitator at Caritas Zaporizhzhia, and cultural project manager.
Serhii works in the field of research and popularization of local history, social anthropology, ethnography, museum and exhibition business, and public history. He pays special attention to working with public memory, family history, and personal experiences and remembering traumatic events of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

In the speech, we will talk about:
- cultural values in communities during the war;
- cultural and museum institutions (schools, clubs, libraries) and their  collections;
- evacuation of ethnographic objects, paintings from private collections, old furniture, old press.
- cooperation with the military to save family archives and valuables;
- expeditions to frontline villages, etc. 

The discussion will be moderated by Anatolii Podolskyi (Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies).
