Educational Course “Genocide of Jews in Europe: Perspectives and Approaches”, 2016

On August 26, 2016 the main element of the educational course “Genocide of Jews in Europe: Perspectives and Approaches” has finished. It was a study trip of the participants - researchers, educators and young professionals - to the Museum and Memorial “House of the Wannsee Conference”. During the seminar in Berlin the participants visited memorial sites and museums, had an introduction into memorial policies and practices in Germany, discussed perspectives and approaches to studies and education about WWII and the Holocaust in Ukraine and Germany. The educational course was planned and implemented by Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies in cooperation with the Museum and Memorial “House of the Wannsee Conference” under the support of the German Embassy in Ukraine. And on November 11, 2016 the Embassy hosted final follow-up meeting of the participants and organizers of the educational course. The attendees tried to compare memorial policies and practices in Ukraine and Germany, presented their plans for future research and ideas for cooperation.
