Seminar in the frames of the “Protecting memory” project

On 4-7 of April 2019 within the “Protecting memory” project the educational and methodological seminar for teachers took place in Kyiv. Teachers from Vinnytsisa, Volyn, Lviv and Zhytomyr regions participated in the meeting.
На семінарі говорили про стереотипи та упередження в історії та сучасності, зокрема на прикладах антисемітських та ромофобських стереотипів, вчились перевіряти інформацію та розпізнавати фейки у медіа і соцмережах, обговорювали можливості проведення публічних заходів у громаді в рамках проекту.
During the seminar participants discussed stereotypes and prejudices against Jews and Romani in history and in the contemporary world, learned how to check the information and detect fake news in social media, talked about holding possible public events in their communities in the frames of the project.
They also attended lectures and training in the Holocaust history and the contemporary politics of memory in Ukraine as well as exchanged their experience of creating and using materials of the projects.
The opening of new memorials in Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions are planned for this summer.
The seminar was carried out by the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust History with the support of the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Germany, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
