ХVІІІ All-Ukrainian I.B. Medvinsky Competition of Students’ Research and Art Works “History and Lessons of the Holocaust”, 2018

The Competition was made possible owing the support of our traditional partners: the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAAD) of Ukraine and the Embassy of the State of Israel to Ukraine. For three days presentations of the research and art work were held in two sections covering history of the Holocaust and regional case studies, history and culture of Ukrainian Jews, the Righteous among the Nations, commemoration of the Holocaust, other cases of genocide and then also art works, literary works and films.

However, the Competition offers more than presentations by the participants. Each year the organizers provide additional events, workshops and lectures for everyone. This year the students had a workshop on combating intolerance, xenophobia and other forms of hatred in history and modernity. The teachers in the meanwhile enjoyed a master class devoted to the multimedia project on Babyn Yar called “Babyn Yar: Memory against History’s Background”. Evening of the same day was marked by an IWalk of Kyiv Podil led by our colleagues from the Kyiv Educational Center “Tolerspace”.

12 participants were noted as winners of the Competition. Their names and topics of their works are available on the Ukrainian version of the web-page. We wish all the luck to every participant and to every tutor!
